We are migrating all OV Subscribers to new HLR infrastructure.
From 17:00 a provisioning freeze is being implement. The provisioning interface will be disconnected and will only be reinstated once the migration has been successfully completed.
A database backup of the existing HLR will then be performed and this will then be uploaded to the new HLR and checks made.
Between 23:00 and 01:00 we will commence the process to migrate service over to the new HLR. The risk of service disruption is from this point forward. We will implement changes to multiple platforms.
Once completed, all new roaming sessions will be processed via the new HLR. Existing roaming sessions will still be registered against the old HLR.
Between 00:00 – 06:00 a process will them take place to terminate the existing roaming /data session and force a fresh registration / data connection. This process will take several hours as we will be carefully managing the disconnections and reconnections to ensure no issues are seen.
Once this process has been completed, connectivity to the provisioning interface will be reestablished and the Provisioning freeze revoked.
Thereafter, there will be an extended period of monitoring.
We will remain "at risk" within this monitoring period as we may need to revert the migration if major issues are identified. This is the primary reason for the extended nature of the maintenance window. We will of course issue updated communications if we do need to revert the migration.
